Cleveland Browns Starting Quarterback Choice Still Up in the Air

Speculation about whether or not Brian Hoyer will be benched in favor of rookie Johnny Manziel for Cleveland’s upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts has been swirling ever since Hoyer was pulled from last Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. However, the question of who will be the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback for the next game or for the rest of the season will likely not be settled until later this week. Regardless of who the starting quarterback is, you can make sure that you always have a perfect seat at FirstEnergy Stadium to see them in person with a discount Cleveland Browns PSL! “With making the quarterback change in-game, the obvious question became what does that mean going forward,” said Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine in a recent press conference. “Not ready to make a decision on that at this point. Not leaning one way or the other, but there's a lot to consider. I know that after watching the tape that everybody on the offense needs to play better. You can’t just pin it all on the quarterback when the offense isn’t as efficient as it should be.” Pettine replaced Hoyer early in the fourth quarter after leading the Browns to just one field goal and throwing two interceptions. Manziel finished the game with 63 yards on five of eight passes and gave the Browns their only touchdown of the night with a 10-yard run. Unfortunately, the late rally wasn’t enough to overcome Buffalo’s lead as the Browns lost 10-26.

While Pettine may not be leaning one way or the other, there is no question in Hoyer’s mind about who should be the starter in the upcoming game. When asked why he thought he was still the best man for the job, Hoyer cited the team’s winning record. “We’re here, we’re 7-5,” said Hoyer in a postgame media session. “This doesn't just happen by luck. It was hard-earned and we worked to get where we’re at and like I said, we’re still in it.” One week after the Browns host the Colts this Sunday, they will take on in-state rivals the Cincinnati Bengals at FirstEnergy Stadium on December 14.
