Cowboys and NFL Mourn Death of Teammate Jerry Brown

Cowboys linebacker Jerry Brown died in a one-vehicle car accident in Irving, Texas early Saturday morning and fellow Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent has been charged with manslaughter. According to the Irving police department, the vehicle was travelling well above the posted speed limit of 45 mile per hour when it hit a curb and flipped at least once. Jerry Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Josh Brent, who was driving the vehicle, was arrested after failing a field sobriety test. The accident happened several hours before Brent was join his teammates on a flight to Cincinnati for their game against the Bengals on Sunday.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones released a statement which read, "We are deeply saddened by the news of this accident and the passing of Jerry Brown. At this time, our hearts and prayers and deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry's family and all those who knew him and loved him." Other Cowboys players took to Twitter and other social media to express their condolences. Cowboys LB Bruce Carter tweeted, "Life is way too short... Sad day." The Cowboys plan to proceed with their game against the Bengals this Sunday in Cincinnati, which will include a tribute to Jerry Brown.
