Houston Texans RB Arian Foster Questionable for Sunday’s Game

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s road game against the New York Giants after having been limited in practice throughout the past week. The three-time Pro Bowl selection is currently working through a hamstring injury. While being listed as questionable ostensibly means that there is only a 50 percent chance that a player will play, Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien tried to downplay the situation when he was asked if there was any concerns that Foster would be out for Sunday’s game. “Not that I know of,” said O’Brien at a press conference on Friday. “Everybody, I would say, is under the category, including myself, of ‘day-to-day.’ I mean, you know, you go up the stairs to the airplane, you never know if you’re going to hit your shin or hit your head on the overhang when you’re getting on the plane. I mean, anything can happen.” Secure your Houston Texans season ticket rights and Texans parking pass today with a discount Houston Texans PSL from PSL Source!

As the current top rusher in the AFC with 241 rushing yards on 55 carries in just two games, Foster’s potential absence would likely be felt when the Texans face the Giants at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, since the Texans currently rank only 30th in the league in passing yards. If Foster is sidelined for Sunday’s game, Texans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will need to rely more heavily on his other primary offensive weapons: WR Andre Johnson and WR DeAndre Hopkins. Fortunately, both receivers are listed as probable for the upcoming game. Johnson has been getting full practice this week after recovering from an ankle injury last week and Hopkins returned to full practice on Friday after being sent home on Thursday with an undisclosed illness.  It should also be noted that the Houston Texans will be taking on a team with a 0-2 record and a quarterback -- Eli Manning -- who has already thrown four interceptions this season. After the Texans play the Giants on Sunday, September 21, the team will return to NRG Stadium for their next game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, September 28.
