Seattle Seahawks DE Chris Clemons will miss Sunday's divisional playoff match against the Atlanta Falcons due to an injury he sustained in yesterday's win over the Washington Redskins. Clemons' injury was confirmed to be a torn ACL after an MRI was done on Monday. Clemons, Seattle's lead pass rusher, went down in the fourth quarter of that game after his cleats got snagged in the rough turf at FedEx Field. Many commentators and fans expressed frustration at the condition of the field in Washington, including Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, who called the field "horrible." The Seahawks weren't the only team at a disadvantage from the turf conditions however, as Redskins QB Robert Griffin III also left the game with a knee injury.
Chris Clemons led his team with 11 & 1/2 sacks this season and will be sorely missed by the Seahawks as they prepare to face the Atlanta Falcons in the divisional playoffs this Sunday, January 13th at the Georgia Dome. Seahawks DE Bruce Irvin is the most likely candidate to take over Clemons' position for the next game.
