Steelers Face Difficult Off-Season Decisions

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be facing some difficult choices in this year's off-season as they try to recover and rebuild after a disappointing finish to the 2012 season. The 2012 season was Pittsburgh's first season without a winning record since 2006. The Steelers finished the regular season with an 8-8 record and failed to advance to the playoffs. Besides losing to the eventual NFL champions, the Steelers also lost at least one game to each of their division rivals. Star QB Ben Roethlisberger also suffered a potentially life-threatening injury in the 2012 season when he dislocated a rib which could have punctured his aorta. Thanks to that injury, Roethlisberger missed three crucial games in the past season. Adding salt to their wounds, Steelers fans also had to endure seeing their longtime AFC rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, win the AFC North division as well as the Super Bowl. Now the Pittsburgh Steelers must make some tough personnel decisions in the off-season as they are already almost $14 million over the salary cap. Unrestricted free agent WR Mike Wallace is likely leaving the Steelers in the off-season after holding out last year for a more lucrative contract on the open market.
