Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker Questionable for Game Against Colts

Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. The starting quarterback was limited in practice on Friday, after missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to an injury to his right wrist that he sustained in a Week 3 road loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Although Locker hasn’t practiced much this week, Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt saw some positive signs in the couple of throws that the quarterback made on Friday. “It is encouraging, but that’s what we anticipated and hopefully that’ll progress more and we’ll obviously see what we can do tomorrow and that will determine what we decide on,” said Whisenhunt after Friday’s practice. If Locker is unavailable on Sunday, backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst is expected to take his place on the field.

Although Whitehurst hasn’t started a game since 2011, Whisenhunt expressed full confidence in his ability to fill in for Locker. “Charlie had a good week,” Whisenhunt told the press on Friday. “He understands that role and obviously he’s been studying and keeping up.” The backup quarterback echoed Whisenhunt’s sentiments in an interview after practice on Friday. “I try to prepare like I’m going to play every week,” stated Whitehurst. “So the only difference this week was that I was able to go out and do the physical reps.” Locker isn’t the only Titans player who may miss the upcoming game. Tight end Delanie Walker is also listed as questionable with a shoulder injury, while DE Ropati Pitoitua and TE Taylor Thompson are both listed as doubtful with knee injuries. On the other hand, linebacker James Anderson is listed as probable. The Tennessee Titans will go into Sunday’s game against the Colts with 1-2 record. Following the game in Indianapolis, the Titans will return home to face the Cleveland Browns for their next game at LP Field on October 5.
